SEASON PREVIEW: Women’s hockey reloads for year two in the OUA
The Gee-Gees women's hockey team went through a transformative 2024-25 season. By welcoming head coach Alison Domenico, 13 rookies, and returning to the OUA, the Gee-Gees set a new foundation for their team heading into the 2025-26 season.
Ottawa logged a 15-11 regular season record last season, clinching a playoff spot and establishing their presence in the OUA.
The squad says goodbye to Arianne Gagnon and Alyssa Biesenthal, who led the team in points during the 2024-25 season. They also say goodbye to goalie, Mireille Kingsley who had a special season in the Garnet and Grey.
This season, the team is building on their success with the addition of nine new Gee-Gees and returning conference and U SPORTS all-stars.
Gee-Gees captain, Beatrice Bilodeau returns for her fourth season in the Garnet and Grey. In 2024-25, Bilodeau logged 16 points, scoring six goals and finding ten assists. Angelique Proulx and Sydney Lynch round out the team's leadership group.
Maelle Laplante, an OUA Second Team All-Star, continues to dominate as a strong two-way defender. Finding the mesh six times last season, she added fourteen assists to establish herself as a key playmaker on the Gee-Gees squad.
After a breakout rookie season, Naomi Morin earned OUA All-Rookie and U SPORTS All-Rookie honours. Morin contributed 19 points in the Gee-Gees' 26 games, scoring five goals and 14 assists.
The Gee-Gees goaltending duo of Clara Genier and Lauren Mooney is an exciting one. Genier brings size and confidence between the posts while Mooney brings experience from Bemidji State University.
The team starts the regular season on Friday Oct. 10 when they welcome the Toronto Varsity Blues to the Minto Sports Complex. Tickets for Gee-Gees home games are available on tickets.geegees.ca and all games can be watched on OUA.tv.
