Alumni Connect
From the very beginning, sports have played an important role in the lives of University of Ottawa students. Starting in the late 1800s, many of our sports teams became Canadian champions, and we have never lost our stride!
In 1885 the athletic association was formed and garnet and grey became our team colors. Shortly thereafter, garnet and grey became the official University of Ottawa colors. The term garnet and grey was later shortened to coin the term Gee-Gee.
Today, close to 720 students participate in 11 varsity and 18 competitive sports while balancing a demanding course load and being ambassadors to the community. More than 5,500 students participate in Sports Services intramurals and over 12,000 students participate in educational and fitness programs.
Stay Involved
Since you left the team, life has taken you down many different paths; however, one tie binds you always: your student-athlete experience with the University of Ottawa’s Gee-Gees.
Reconnect with the Gee-Gees and stay involved as much as you want; give your time, energy, or even funds. Donate here!
