On February 9, 2019, the Canadian Tire Centre welcomed over 9,000 fans to the 13th edition of the Capital Hoops game. In a highly anticipated matchup between U SPORTS top ten combatants, our uOttawa Gee-Gees competed against Carleton Ravens in the premiere regular season university basketball event in Canada.

The Gee-Gees men’s basketball team fell short against the Ravens (82-64) but the women’s basketball team defeated the Ravens with a 61-52 victory marking their first Capital Hoops title since 2015.

Over 100,000 fans have experienced the incredible rivalry and epic games between the Gee-Gees and Ravens since its inception in 2007. In 2015, a record 10,780 fans attended at Canadian Tire Centre. The Gee-Gees women have won the Capital Hoops Classic trophy four times, in 2019, 2015, 2014, and 2012 and the Gee-Gees men were victorious in 2016 and 2007.
