NEWS: Women’s volleyball schedule released, Gee-Gees to open season Oct. 17 vs. UQAM

The Gee-Gees women's volleyball team is set return to the court to play their first regular season match in 19 months on Oct. 17.

The RSEQ released the 2021-22 women's volleyball schedule on Wednesday. The Gee-Gees will play 18 regular season games, down from the 20 played in previous years, with the conference adding a seventh team in the UQTR Patriotes for this season.

Ottawa will celebrate their season and home opener at Montpetit Hall against the UQAM Citadins, before hosting the 2019-20 RSEQ champion Montréal Carabins on Oct. 22.

The Gee-Gees will then launch into four consecutive road trips, including a first visit to Trois-Rivières for a meeting with the upstart Patriotes.

The Garnet and Grey then enjoy a stretch of three home matchups through November before a trip to Quebec City to take on the Laval Rouge et Or to close the first semester.

A balanced schedule in the New Year sees the Gee-Gees meet each team in the conference, culminating with home matches on back-to-back weekends against McGill on Feb. 13 and UQTR to close the regular season on Feb. 20.

The playoffs will get underway Mar. 4, with the top four teams making the postseason. The RSEQ champion will be crowned on Mar. 13, with the two finalists advancing to the U SPORTS Championship held in Calgary starting Mar. 25.
