Three Gee-Gees named to OUA East All-Star Teams
The Major Award winners and All-Star teams for OUA women's soccer were announced on Wednesday, with three Gee-Gees recognized as part of the all-star teams.
Fifth-year midfielder Nibo Dlamini and fourth-year striker Gracie Somers were named OUA First Team All-Stars, with fifth-year defender Maya Smith named to the Second Team.
It is the third All-Star selection for both Dlamini and Smith, who were each previously honoured in both 2023 and 2024. Somers joined the Gee-Gees this season from Acadia University and was selected as a conference all-star for the first time in her career.
Dlamini established a new program record for career assists in regular season play, finishing with seven in 2025 and 25 over five years. Her seven assists were tied for second in the conference this season, and she picked up a pair of goals to finish with 9 points, which ranked ninth.
Somers was Ottawa's leading point-scorer with eight goals and two assists. The eight goals ranked sixth in the conference, and included a hat-trick to finish the season against RMC. That was the only multi-goal game for Somers, who recorded goals in six of the team's twelve matches.
Smith appeared in nine matches this season, starting eight. Her presence on the back line helped Ottawa once again be one of the top defensive teams in OUA; Ottawa's 11 goals allowed in twelve games (.96 per game) ranked second in the OUA East Division. Smith equalled her career high of three goals scored this season.
