Dingwall is RSEQ Rookie of the Year, 10 Gee-Gees named RSEQ All-Stars
The Gee-Gees women's rugby team had 10 members named to the RSEQ conference all-star teams for 2025, including Grace Dingwall who was also selected as the conference's Rookie of the Year.
Dingwall was named a First Team All-Star, as well as Sophie McDonald, Ngozi Mosindi, Mercedes Cole, Marley Magnusson, and Quynh-Ni Au. The four Gee-Gees named to the RSEQ Second Team are Alysia Comtois, Erica Osei, Bronwen Earle, and Claire Bennett.
Dingwall led the Gee-Gees with 10 tries scored during the regular season. The Visual Arts student from Ottawa started all six regular season matches at right wing and ranked tied for second in RSEQ tries scored. Dingwall's defensive play and playmaking in general set her apart for Ottawa as the Rookie of the Year candidate.
Fellow rookie Claire Bennett (Hantsport, N.S) recorded 30 converts to lead the team in points scored, and ranked first in the conference for converts and second in the conference in points. Erica Osei (Vaudreuil-Dorion, Que.) and Bronwen Earle (Thornhill, Ont.) were also named All-Stars in their first year of eligibility; Osei started five matches at flanker while Earle started all six at hooker.
Mercedes Cole (Ajax, Ont.) returns to the All-Star list for the first time since 2022, when she was named the RSEQ Rookie of the Year. Cole scored four tries in her six starts at left wing during the 2025 regular season.
It is the first All-Star honour for Ottawa locals Marley Magnusson (third-year) and Sophie McDonald (fourth-year). Magnusson, a second row player, started at three different positions this regular season and was named most valuable player in the regular season victory over Concordia. At prop, McDonald recorded four tries and was selected as the match MVP twice.
Alysia Comtois, an All-Canadian at prop in 2024, earns her third career selection to the RSEQ All-Stars. Comtois recorded three tries in just three matches played during the regular season, and added two more in the RSEQ semifinal.
Graduating fifth-year captain Quynh-Ni Au (Dunrobin, Ont.) was selected for the second straight season and notably switched from flanker to the number 8 position this season.
Fellow fifth-year captain Nogozi Mosindi (Ottawa) becomes the fifth player in Gee-Gees women's rugby team history to earn four all-star awards in their career. Mosindi added four tries to her regular season career total in 2025, finishing sixth in team history with 17 tries scored. Mosindi, the 2022 RSEQ Leadership and Engagement Award winner, added two tries in the semifinal victory.
2025 is the fourth time the Gee-Gees have seen 10 players selected as conference All-Stars, including 2024 when a team record of 11 were selected. Ten were also honoured in 2017 and in 2022.
Dingwall is the seventh Gee-Gee to be selected as RSEQ Rookie of the Year. The previous Gee-Gees winners were: Sandy Simpson (2002), Tegan Bradshaw (2006), Lauren Minns (2017), Claire Gallagher (2018), Madison Grant (2019), and Mercedes Cole (2022).
