The U SPORTS sixth-ranked Ottawa Gee-Gees (3-2-1) are set to do battle in thei RSEQ semifinals against the U SPORTS tenth-ranked Sherbrooke Vert et Or (2-3-1). The game is set for Saturday at 6 p.m. at Matt Anthony Field.

Ottawa and Sherbrooke have played twice before this season, with the season opener ending in a 22-22 tie, before a balanced Gee-Gees attack led them to a decisive 44-10 win on home field, with five different Gee-Gees players converting tries.

The Gee-Gees are coming off a strong 47-10 win over Carleton in the regular season finale after bouncing back from a tough loss to Laval. Last week the team had a bye thanks to the new division format that does not require the top two teams to play quarterfinal matchups.

If the Gee-Gees want to earn a berth in the RSEQ final, they will have to shut down 2018 MVP and two-time RSEQ First Team All-Star Marie-Pier Fauteux. Fauteux makes her presence on the score sheet in multiple ways and is the catalyst for the Vert et Or offence, leading the team in scoring with 44 points.

For Ottawa, two recently named RSEQ All-Stars in Michaela Haley and Madison Grant have been the catalysts for offensive production this season. Haley and Grant are responsible for 90 of the team's 176 points this season and will once again be looked to in the next step towards defending the team's RSEQ title.

If the Gee-Gees are victorious, they will face either Laval or Concordia in hopes of hoisting their sixth-consecutive RSEQ championship trophy.

In two week's time, the Gee-Gees will host the eight best teams in the country at Matt Anthony Field for the U SPORTS Rugby Championship presented by uOttawa from October 30 – November 3.
