Call for Nominations for Gee-Gees Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame
The Gee-Gees Women's Basketball Hall of Fame will celebrate an induction class during the 2026-2027 season, and nominations are open now until May 1.
Nominations are open to the public and can be made by completing and submitting a nomination form.
The date of the induction ceremony will be announced following the OUA 2026-2027 women's basketball schedule release.
Following the 2026-27 inductions, the Gee-Gees Women's Basketball Hall of Fame inductions will take place every five years, to help celebrate the team's official entry into the OWIAA (now OUA) in the 1971-72 season, 55 years ago.
The Gee-Gees Women's Basketball Hall of Fame aims to recognize those individuals or teams who make standout contributions to the history of the Gee-Gees varsity program. There are currently 17 inductees who have been honoured. Nominations will be considered in three categories: Athlete, Builder, or Team.
ATHLETE CATEGORY ELIGIBILITY:
This category recognizes individuals whose athletic performance as a Gee-Gee is notable in program history.
An athlete must have represented the Gee-Gees by competing in official events for at least one season to be eligible. Preference will be given to those with 3 or more years of eligibility used at uOttawa.
BUILDER CATEGORY ELIGIBILITY:
This category recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions of lasting impact to the program or the sport outside of playing roles. This may be through coaching, administration, support staff, alumni involvement, or similar roles within the community.
Builders may or may not be currently active in a role with the team.
TEAM CATEGORY ELIGIBILITY:
This category is to recognize the collective accomplishments of a Team, usually culminating in historic championship result.
Teams will be inducted based on one competition season at a time. For example, the 2023-24 men's basketball team is a distinct nominee from the 2024-25 men's basketball team.
A minimum waiting period of 10 years will be applied between the Team season end and its induction eligibility.
