RECAP: #6 men's basketball advance to OUA quarterfinal with routine win over Laurier
The University of Ottawa men's basketball team earned an 87-69 victory over the Laurier Golden Hawks to advance to the OUA quarterfinals.
After finishing the regular season 16-6 and riding as eight-game win streak, the Gee-Gees were eager to host the Golden Hawks to start their postseason run.
Things were close in the opening half, but the Gee-Gees pulled away in the final 20 minutes of action.
Gee-Gees point guard, Alec Phaneuf, led the team with 15 points, 4 assists, and a steal. Ottawa received a significant contribution from throughout the bench, which accounted for 42 points.
Ottawa will hit the road for their quarterfinal matchup, meeting the Brock Badgers in St. Catharines on Saturday night.
