RECAP: #2 Ottawa earns dominant quarterfinal win over Laurentian
The Gee-Gees men's basketball team defeated the Laurentian Voyageurs 81-50 on Saturday night at Montpetit Hall in the OUA quarterfinals.
Ottawa made no mistake with a dominant 13-0 run to begin the game. After the hot start, the Gee-Gees did not look back as they closed the first quarter with a 29-14 lead.
Despite a closer second frame, Ottawa locked down on defence to only allow 22 points in the second half.
The Gee-Gees shot 47.5 per cent from the field and 43.8 per cent from beyond the arc, despite a difficult shooting night at the free throw line (47.8%). On the defensive end, Ottawa forced 21 turnovers that they turned into 26 points.
Ankit Choudhary led the way with 19 points, four assists, and two rebounds. Jacques-Mélaine Guemeta had 16 points, seven rebounds, and two steals, while Owen Kenney added 11 points and six rebounds off the bench.
