OTTAWA TOPS GUELPH WITH BIG SCORE

OTTAWA - Anthony-Plante Ajah's school record 108-yard punt return for a touchdown capped a 31-point explosion for the uOttawa Gee-Gees, as the Garnet and Grey rallied to down the University of Guelph Gryphons 34-5 Saturday afternoon in OUA football action at Frank Clair Stadium.

Veteran quarterback Josh Sacobie completed 22 of 31 passes for 335 yards and a touchdown, while running for a pair of majors. Adam Nicholson was the leading receiver with 7 catches for 155 yards, while rookie running back Davie Mason was held to just 58-yards on 10 carries.

Justin Dunk completed 22 of 40 passes for 327-yards, but was picked off twice in a losing cause for the Gryphons.

Guelph took a 5-3 lead late in the second quarter after a bad snap forced Ara Tchobanian to concede a safety. The Gryphs were unable to take advantage, going two and out on the next possession, setting up the Ottawa rally.

Sacobie connected on a 42-pass with receiver Adam Nicholson, setting up a one-yard plunge into the endzone by the veteran quarterback to give Ottawa the lead for good.

The Gee-Gees exploded for 14-points in less then three minutes in the third quarter on Sacobie's second major of the game and Desmond's 2-yard TD run.

After Tchobanian connected on a 17-yard field goal to put Ottawa up 27-5, Plante-Ajah capped off the day with his record setting return.

With the victory, the Gee-Gees improve to 4-1, while Guelph falls to 1-4. Up next for Ottawa is a road match-up with the Queen's Golden Gaels next Saturday at Richardson Stadium.
