Bio

Joanna is the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for Women’s Soccer.

Education: While out West, Coach Jo earned her BHK in Kinesiology at Trinity Western University. Her two ACL injuries inspired her to pursue a Master’s of Science at uOttawa researching how ACL injuries impact knee stabilization strategies in adolescent athletes. She is now in the process of creating and establishing an ACL protocol and hub in Ottawa.  

Background: Coach Jo grew up in Calgary, AB and decided to move out west to Langley, BC to pursue her education and athletics. During her time as a Spartan, her team secured the CIS National Championship title in 2013 and the CanWest Championship title in 2014, and she was an Academic All-Canadian recipient. After graduating, she moved to Ottawa and began her Master’s working with the Clinical Biomechanics Research Unit at uOttawa. Outside of working with the uOttawa Women’s Soccer Team, Joanna works at Sport Science Rehab and Performance dedicating the majority of her time towards ACL injury prevention and recovery.  

Interests: Being an Auntie to three, supporting professional women’s sports, spending time with family and friends, traveling, being in the outdoors, literally anything sports and competition related
