NEWS: Gee-Gees alumna Shilo Rousseau named to 2026 Olympic Team
Shilo Rousseau was named to Canada's Olympic Team for biathlon on January 22, two weeks in advance of the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympic Winter Games.
Rousseau was a highly decorated member of the Gee-Gees nordic skiing team during her undergraduate studies. She graduated in 2024 with an Honours Bachelor of Science, majoring in Biology, and then enrolled as a Master's Student in the Faculty of Medicine.
Rousseau was named a Gee-Gees Athlete of the Year in both 2021-22 and 2022-23, recognizing her dedication as a member of the Gee-Gees nordic skiing team as well as her early international competitive career.
In 2021-22 she helped uOttawa place second overall at the Canadian Colleges and Universities National Championships for nordic skiing and represented Canada at the Junior World Biathlon Championships after winning three individual events at the Canadian National Biathlon Championships.
Rousseau, who began studying at uOttawa in 2019, made Canadian university sport history with her performance at the 2023 World University Games. She won two gold medals and a silver medal at the event and was named Canada's flag bearer for the closing ceremonies. She was the first Canadian to win a biathlon medal at the event and is also one of just is one of just three Canadians in history to claim two gold medals at a single World University Games.
This will be Rousseau's first Olympic Games. She made her first appearance at the International Biathlon Union World Championships in 2025, recording a 20th place finish in the relay.
uOttawa will also see Faculty of Health Sciences alumna Rachel Homan competing in Milano Cortina. Homan returns for her third Olympic Games as a member of Canada's curling team.
