The Gee-Gees cross country team opened the competition season on Friday afternoon in Montreal; the men's team had excellent all-around performances and placed a very close second in the team standings. Ottawa had five team members in the top 15, led by second-year Gee-Gee André Alie-Lamarche who was second individually in the 6km event.

Alie-Lamarche, an International Development and Globalization student from Ottawa, crossed the finish line with a time of 19:25, twenty seconds ahead of the third place finisher. The Gee-Gees then came across as a pack with Adrian Fournier, Stephen Robinson, Nicholas Roberts, and Paul Bates finishing 11-12-13-14 at the 20:22 mark, edging out runners from Laval, McGill, and Sherbrooke. Laval narrowly took top spot in the team standings with 3-6-7-15-20 finishers, finishing one point ahead of the Gee-Gees.

On the women's side, Ottawa was sixth in the team standings with Rebecca Brennan the top finisher in twelfth. Keili Shepherd was next across for Ottawa in 24th position out of 56 runners.
