The uOttawa Gee-Gees are proud to announce that first-year defenceman Dominic Jalbert, Gatineau, Qué., has been named to the 2011 FISU men's hockey team following a successful training camp this past weekend in London, Ont.
Jalbert will be representing team Canada at the 25th Winter Universiade in Erzurum, Turkey, from January 27 to February 6, 2011. The Universiade is organized by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), and takes place every two years.
Heading into the FISU training camp, Jalbert expressed his gratitude and excitement just to be invited. He is the first uOttawa Gee-Gee since Jonathan Robert was invited and participated in the 2005 Winter Universiade in Innsbruck, Austria.
There was a brief moment of suspense when Dominic was left out of Tuesday's lineup when the FISU team faced off against Canada's World Junior team. Yet it's safe to say that the coaches had already seen enough of the Gee-Gee defenceman who currently sits in third for most points among OUA defencemen, and fourth in the CIS with 19 points in 17 games so far this season.
