OTTAWA GAME NOTES

  • Major Stat Leaders
  • The Gee-Gees are looking to get themselves back in the win column following their first regular season loss to #6 Lakehead last weekend.
  • Calvin Epistola continues to be one of the nation's best overall weapons and will look to continue his dominant play against Northern Ontario foes.
  • Third-year guard Borys Minger has been a lock-down defender all season and will get yet another test when Laurentian's Kadre Gray comes to town. Gray is a two-time national player of the year and is one of the craftiest offensive players at this level, it will be a battle to watch come Saturday. 

NIPISSING GAME NOTES

  • Nipissing has struggled thus far to start the season, they will have to be playing their best in a difficult road weekend.
  • The Lakers have returned veteran presence in former OUA All-Star forward Justin Shaver. The Ottawa native returns after missing last season and has shown his dominant play return in his fifth and final season.
  • Nipissing has been as strong team shooting from beyond the arc this season, raking fifth in the OUA in three-pointers made, attempted, and overall per cent (34.1).
  • It will be a homecoming for a group of Lakers, overall the team features six players from the Ottawa area.

#8 LAURENTIAN GAME NOTES

    • Assists (per game): Kadre Gray – 7.4 ast.
    • Rebounds (per game): Sam Ivey – 6.7 reb.
    • Field-goal percentage: Joseph Hlady – 49.4 per cent
    • Three-point percentage: Haroun Mohamed – 41.7 per cent
  • Laurentian has the opportunity to prove themselves against two other Top 10 opponents this weekend in #1 Carleton and #4 Ottawa. The Voyageurs have been hot as of late, rising to the eighth-ranked team in the nation.
  • Though Kadre Gray's numbers haven't been as eye-popping this season, he has been still a dominant force in his fourth season with the Voyageurs. Gray currently ranks atop the OUA in points per game (22.9) as well as free throws made (80) and percentage (93 per cent).
  • Laurentian is the best team at getting to the line behind Gray's averages. They also rank first in assists per game (20.1) and offensive rebounding (14.7).
