On Wednesday, the Montreal Alouettes announced that they have signed Gee-Gees defensive back Ty Cranston to a three-year contract beginning with the upcoming CFL season.
Following his fourth year of eligibility with the Gee-Gees, Cranston was selected in the seventh round of the 2017 CFL Draft by the Alouettes. After attending Training Camp with the team in June, Cranston returned to Ottawa to play his final season in garnet and grey.
Cranston, the captain of the Gee-Gees defence and a force in one of the nation's most vaunted defensive backfields, brings size and athleticism to the safety position. In his five years, the Winnipeg, MB native tallied 188 tackles, 15 pass breakups, six tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, and three interceptions.
