The defensive duo of Jamie Harry and Jackson Bennett were named to the U SPORTS All-Canadian teams on Thursday night at the All-Canadian Football Awards Gala in Hamilton. Third-year corner back Jamie Harry was named a First Team All-Canadian with third-year half-back Jackson Bennett claiming a spot on the Second Team. It is the first national honour for both players.
Harry led the OUA conference with five interceptions which was also second in U SPORTS. The 6-foot-2 psychology student from Lachine, Que., also recorded five pass breakups and was second on the Gee-Gees with 42 tackles.
Bennett was named the OUA Stand-Up Defensive Player of the Year and stuffed the stats sheets all season long. The Cumberland, Ont., product accounted for 47 tackles along with three interceptions, one touchdown, one sack, and a forced fumble this regular season.
The pair become the 91st and 92nd Gee-Gees to be named to the All-Canadian teams, dating back to 1970.
