Ottawa native Ettore Lattanzio was selected by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in last night's CFL Draft as the team's fifth pick and 38th overall.
The 6-0 Lattanzio has been an integral part of the Gee-Gees defensive line since 2010. He impressed scouts at the CFL E-Camp by posting 32 reps on the bench press - the top-performing defensive lineman.
The fourth-year won the 2014 J.P. Metras award winner as the best lineman in Canadian Interuniversity football. He led the OUA with eight sacks this season and tied for the national lead with 14 tackles for loss.
With Lattanzio's selection, there have now been 94 uOttawa Gee-Gees selected in the CFL Draft, including ten first round picks (since 1970).
