Fourth-year Gee-Gees quarterback, and Hec Crighton Trophy winner, Brad Sinopoli, Peterborough, Ont., is set to showcase his talents for the CFL. The human kinetics student will be participating in this year's CFL evaluation camp set to take place in Toronto, Ont., from March 4 to 6, 2011.
Brad will be joining 45 other CIS football athletes in the three-day event that will have general managers, coaches, and scouts alike, evaluating, testing, and interviewing potential prospects ahead of the 2011 CFL Canadian Draft on Sunday, May 8, 2011.
"This is an enormously important weekend for these talented prospects and we wish them luck in making the most of this rare opportunity," said CFL Commissioner Mark Cohon. "It's an equally significant event for all of us in the CFL. Our teams are only as strong as their Canadian talent, and a CFL franchise is only as strong as the connection between its fans and their fellow Canadians on the field."
As for Sinopoli, he is eagerly awaiting the opportunity: "I think I'm looking forward to finally just being able to compete and let the training take over. I've been waiting for this day to come for a while and I'm excited to finally be able to go through the whole experience."
Brad has been training hard since the Yates Cup back in November, and most recently spent two weeks in Florida training at Athletic Edge Sports where he had a chance for some one-on-one with the CFL Toronto Argonauts' quarterback Ken Dorsey.
Going into the evaluation camp, Brad knows his biggest challenge will be to prove that a Canadian quarterback can play in the Canadian Football League: "The biggest challenge will be proving to all the scouts and coaches that I can be successful as a Canadian. To be drafted they have to believe you can contribute especially if they want to keep you on the roster. I need to show that I am worth that spot and that I am worth the investment," said Sinopoli.
When asked about what it would mean for him to be drafted to the CFL, the Peterborough native said: "It would be a dream come true. I would mean a lot to me but also my family who have been so supportive. My parents have been there for me through everything since the beginning and to potentially be able to share a moment as special as getting drafted with them would be incredible."
