The uOttawa Gee-Gees will be sending three players to this year's East West Bowl to be played at TD Waterhouse Stadium on the campus of the University of Western on May 7, 2011, 1 p.m. in London, Ont.
Second-year receivers Ezra Millington, Newmarket, Ont., and Alex Fortier-Labonté, Gatineau, Qué., along with third-year linebacker Tyler Sawyer, Metcalfe, Ont., have been selected to showcase their talent as part of the next group of players eligible for the 2012 CFL draft.
Head coach Jean-Philippe Asselin is proud to see his players having the opportunity to participate in such a high profile event: "I think this is a good crew of players we are sending this year, all three players have potential for the next level," said Asselin.
"They are young men who work very hard in the off-season and who take their football very seriously. I'm happy for them, they're going to have the chance to show their stuff in front of CFL scouts, and I know they will represent our school and program very well," he added.
Last year the Gee-Gees sent fourth-year quarterback Brad Sinopoli, Peterborough, Ont., who is eligible for this year's draft wherein he impressed at last year's East West Bowl as well as last month's CFL Evaluation Camp. Fifth-year receiver Steven Hughes, Ottawa, Ont., and fourth-year offensive lineman Brandon Lowe, Etobicoke, Ont., also participated in last year's game, helping the East to a 12-9 victory over the West.
