Former Gee-Gees quarterback and the 2007 OUA MVP, Josh Sacobie, Fredericton, N.B., was added to the Senior Men's National Team on Tuesday ahead of the 2011 International Federation of American Football (IFAF) Senior Men's World Championships, to be held July 8-16 in Austria.
Sacobie is the all-time Gee-Gees career leader in attempts (1, 111), passing yards (9885), touchdowns (79) and completions (637). He played five seasons for the garnet and grey from 2004-2008 wherein he won a Yates Cup in 2006, was nominated for the Hec Crighton in 2007, was a two-time All-Canadian, and a three-time OUA All-Star.
Joining Sacobie, will be former teammate and defensive back Alexander Hoad, Rockwood, Ont., who was picked during the first round of selections last month. Since playing for the Gee-Gees from 2003 to 2007, Hoad has gone on to play professional football in both America and Europe.
A group of 50 players will be invited to the final training camp in London, ON, June 24- July 2 after which a 45-man roster will be finalized. This will be Canada's first appearance at the IFAF Senior Men's World Championships.
