Varsity Athletics reaffirms support to Black community

WE STAND WITH OUR STUDENT-ATHLETES, THEIR CLASSMATES AND OUR COMMUNITY AND WILL NOT TOLERATE RACISM

The University of Ottawa Gee-Gees Varsity Athletics is heart-broken to have seen and heard the impact that events this year, on our campus, in our city and around the world have had on our student-athletes, their classmates, and our community.

Varsity Athletics will work to address anti-Black racism and to support anti-racism and inclusion for all BIPOC groups and identities.

We will support the University of Ottawa as it works to root-out systemic racism and implement actionable change on campus.

We are committing, as an administration, to doing more to educate ourselves. We will engage our teams' leadership in creating sustainable plans that ensure we are having difficult and important conversations. We will use our voice and position of leadership on campus. We will work alongside our student-athletes in educating our campus leaders and policymakers.

Gee-Gees Varsity Athletics expects everyone to be able to enjoy safe spaces on our campus and in our community.
