Gee-Gees women's hockey standout Christine Deaudelin was named to the 2018 U SPORTS All-Rookie Team at the All-Canadian Gala in London, Ont., on Wednesday night.

Deaudelin tallied three goals and six assists in 20 games, tying for second place in team scoring. The defenceman was named to the RSEQ Second Team of All-Stars as well as the conference All-Rookie team, recognizing her importance to the Gee-Gees at both ends of the ice.

"Her vision and her hockey IQ were what made her so effective this season," says Gee-Gees head coach Yanick Evola. "Her willingness to compete every day and her drive to be the best player is obvious."

Deaudelin, who is from Beloeil, Que., came to uOttawa from Cégep Saint-Laurent Patriotes. She is studying Criminology.

"Christine is already a leader for us," Evola continues. "It didn't take her long to adjust - she is a very mature player and she built her trust and confidence with the team early. It's a privilege to have her on the squad and I'm looking forward to seeing her grow even more in the future."
