The Gee-Gees have three teams ranked in the U SPORTS Top Ten lists this week after a winning weekend on the basketball courts where both teams hold their positions from last week, and on the ice for men's hockey.
The men's hockey team bounces back into the national rankings this week at no. 7 after taking down Queen's, Concordia, and Ontario Tech this week. The team is on a four game winning streak overall and features an 11-4-1 record with one game remaining before the exam break. The Garnet and Grey take on no. 8 ranked UQTR (13-2-2) in Trois Rivières on Tuesday night.
The Gee-Gees men's and women's basketball teams are both ranked no. 4 again this week, with the men's team marking its 7-year anniversary of being ranked in the national top ten. On December 4, 2012 the Gee-Gees re-entered the Top Ten and they have never left. 96 times the team has been ranked, including 10 times as number 1. The men's team (9-1) had convincing wins over Laurentian and Nipissing this weekend and take on the no. 1 ranked Carleton Ravens (10-0) on Wednesday night at the Ravens' Nest.
The women's basketball team (8-2) also handily won its two games this weekend, tallying over ninety points for third time this regular season in Friday's win over Nipissing. The Garnet and Grey also held its opponent to under fifty points for the fourth straight game. The Bytowne Battle against Carleton (9-1) will feature the no. 3 and no. 4 ranked teams in the nation. Tip-off at the Ravens' Nest is 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
