The Gee-Gees women's varsity teams remained highly ranked in the nation this week, with the women's soccer team holding the number one ranking for the second straight week.
It was a busy week for the soccer squad with a trio of games on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. The Garnet and Grey earned wins against Carleton, 3-1, and Trent, 3-0, as well as a draw against Toronto, 1-1. Mikayla Morton was named OUA Female Athlete of the Week for her six goals over the three-game span, including a hat trick performance against the Ravens. The soccer team plays a pair of home matches this week, Saturday and Sunday afternoons at Matt Anthony Field.
The rugby team slipped one spot to no. 5 following a loss to Laval which also vaulted the Rouge et Or into the no. 2 spot. Three RSEQ teams sit in the top eight, making it the highest ranked conference as the re-alignment of the schedule plays out. The Gee-Gees (0-1-1) will visit Carleton (0-2) this week to close out the first half of the regular season schedule.
The football team also earned honourary mention again this week, following its 44-27 win over Queen's. Ottawa (1-1) is at home this week, facing the Laurier Golden Hawks (1-2) at Gee-Gees Field on Saturday afternoon.
