The U SPORTS Top Tens were released today featuring women's soccer and women's rugby rankings for the first time in 2019. The Gee-Gees earned high spots on both lists, while the football team earned an honourable mention after being ranked ninth last week.

The women's soccer team stands at no. 1 in the nation after opening the season with a 1-0 victory at Ontario Tech. The defending national champions have returned a strong contingent of all-star players including two-time All-Canadian midfielder Katherine Bearne and have an impressive crew of newcomers with six players making their Gee-Gees debut last week. The team will play Carleton (0-1-1) on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at Matt Anthony Field.

The women's rugby team earned a no. 4 ranking thanks to its bronze medal win at the 2018 National Championships and a 22-22 tie with Sherbrooke to open the 2019 season on Sunday. This week, fifth-year All-Canadian Tori Wyman will return to the lineup as the Gee-Gees take on the third-ranked Laval Rouge et Or. Game time is 1 p.m. at Matt Anthony Field.
