Who we are
In 1995 a group of ball players from the University of Ottawa decided to come together and form a baseball team. The team played a schedule with teams from Quebec, as well as, Carleton University for the first number of years. Following the Gee-Gees inaugural season, Kevin Bullock, the team's administrative manager, approached local baseball coach Larry Belange to help move the team forward. Larry recruited another local coach, Terry Hierlihy, and the seeds of the current baseball program were sown. After many years of successes and some tough seasons, it was time for a change in direction for the Gee-Gee’s.
In 2017 the team appointed former Gee-Gee Andrew Cockburn as Head Coach. Andrew has completed a Master of Human Kinetics - Concentration in Sport Management (MHK) from the University of Ottawa and, prior to being named Head Coach, has served as an Assistant Coach for the Ottawa Nepean Canadians. Andrew would like to transfer his knowledge and leadership over to the players, in hopes of securing a berth at the national championship at the end of the season.
What we do
The team competes in a two conference league (Northern and Atlantic) under the umbrella of the CCBA (League website: https://www.ccba-abcc.ca/). The league is composed of teams from the east coast, Québec, and our cross-town rival - Carleton University.
The team plays a 16 game regular season schedule beginning in September. The regular season is then followed by (pending qualification) the CCBA North playoffs and, ultimately, the CCBA National Championship in October.
The Gee-Gee’s also have the honor of calling the 10,000+ seat RCGT Stadium their home diamond.
